Is this basically about Mass Effect?________________________
Yes, but I’m interested in people’s opinions on the issues ME3 brings up, not in ME3 itself. I played it and don’t need to be re-informed about it by…
my feeling on the matter is this: EA is a company. companies survive by being good at taking people’s money. that is the only criteria and that is all i expect EA to be good at. ME3 took a lot of people’s money and is thus a success.
sometimes companies make good things, because someone at the company manages to convince people that a good thing is a good way to make money. sometimes companies make bad things for the same reason.
sometimes a story has no ending because endings cost money and the company is not convinced that including an ending will make more money.
because
here’s the line, to me
an artist or a group of artists cares about the work
a company does not. they will make the product that they think has the most effective cost/benefit ratio, and if that means keeping the show going even after the original cast has all left and none of the characters have any remaining motivation to exist well fine as long as it’s making money!!!
an artist makes the game they want to make, the game they want to play. an artist does not cut corners because an artist cares only about expressing their desires in the medium. an artist probably includes a satisfactory ending, or two or thirteen or twenty-six.
personally i would never ever buy a videogame from a major publisher without having played it first, because as you might have gathered here i kind of consider media companies to be the adversaries of media
so i guess i’ve asked for my money back preemptively by deciding not to give them any of it?
ATTN: ALL PROGRAMMERS
if your program/game has controls, it must also have a way for me to rebind them.
whenever i use a program or play a game that doesn’t let me customize controls, i feel like i’m interacting with a quaint relic from 1986.
to me, zxc should be the buttons to switch between the three modes i use most. maybe that doesn’t make sense to you. it doesn’t have to. if i can’t bind zxc to pencil/pen/eraser then i don’t want to pay for your program.
